If you can make learning fun, this is the job for you! A busy family in Naples, Florida is looking for a private educator to develop a curriculum for their 6-year-old kindergarten student. He loves history, learning to read, and already has a few favorite podcasts!
In this role, you will draw on your classroom, tutoring and private education experience to research and develop a curriculum customized to this student. In some subjects he will be advancing ahead of his peers and in others he will be provided the support to learn confidently. The traditional classroom setting has not been an environment that nurtured a love for learning, and this bright and sweet boy is eager to have a private educator to foster academic as well as social and emotional development!
This education plan will include a clearly outlined daily, weekly, and monthly schedule, and will provide most school holidays off. The private educator will prepare and present curriculum and objectives to the parents for review before implementation. There will be regular progress reports and opportunities to collaborate with the parents on educational goals and milestones.
The child has been diagnosed with some sensory processing issues which can manifest in the form of peculiarities with clothing and tactile experiences. Outside of an uncomfortable classroom environment his parents hope these issues will be fewer and farther between. Experience working with children who learn differently, and being patient and creative in handling difficult situations, will help you to be successful in this role.
The family has a nanny/house manager whom they adore. You will occasionally work with her, but primarily your focus will be private education. The father speaks French, so French or other language experience would be a huge bonus!
Class will be held in the family's guest house which the private educator and student are invited to transform into their school! Researching and enrolling the student in extracurricular classes and lessons may be a part of the curriculum. The private educator may also host play dates or social engagements for the young student in their school house.
This position offers a competitive salary package, paid time off, and a benefits package.
