A wonderful, bustling, and dynamic family of six in Palo Alto, CA is looking for a detail-oriented and self-starting family assistant to join their family. The family is excited to find a candidate with a proven track record of working in private homes to support the family and household as a whole. Someone who can pick up on the ins and outs of how the home runs, be comfortable filling some childcare responsibilities, find ways to fine-tune processes, and take ownership of their role will excel in this position for years to come.
Your daily schedule might consist of booking travel, managing vendors, overseeing day-to-day logistics, event planning, and owning tasks such as grocery procurement, vehicle maintenance, sending and receiving mail, and other general daily, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly tasks that support the home as a whole. Other days will include helping to coordinate the kid’s schedules, pick ups, drops offs, and general childcare responsibilities. In this position, you will work side-by-side with mom and dad, the family's full-time housekeeper and live-in nanny to create a system that works well and supports everyone. The family has four children who are newborn through elementary aged and a candidate who is happy to work with this loving and fun bunch with the flexibility to jump in with childcare coverage will be greatly appreciated.
After a few transitional weeks of learning the family's routines and structure, the family assistant will be expected to jump in and take ownership of their role. A successful candidate will be a wonderful multi-tasker, tech-savvy, and a self-starter. Applicants with the demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a busy home, be a loving and nurturing addition to the family, maintain confidentiality and discretion, and be a team player will thrive in this role.
Hourly compensation is generous and commensurate with experience. The weekly schedule will be Sunday-Thursday with guaranteed weekly hours and the opportunity for additional hours with advanced notice. Paid time off, sick days, and additional benefits will be offered for the right candidate. Opportunities to travel with the family to their home in Ireland and beyond will also be offered with advanced notice. 
This position is only open to ​applicants who are local to the Bay Area​. Applicants​ must also possess a valid driver's license, current passport, and a minimum of 2 years of professional in-home experience.


  • Family assistant tasks to include grocery shopping, meal preparation, vendor management, bookkeeping, calendaring and booking travel, vehicle maintenance, clerical projects, errands, light housekeeping and running point on tasks upon request
  • Be detailed oriented, organized, self-starting, and possess proven time management skills
  • Work confidently as a member of the family to run point and complete tasks
  • Be flexible and willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities as this position evolves 
  • Provide occasional backup childcare as needed, with advanced notice 



  • 2 years full-time professional in-home experience
  • Bright, driven and confident working both as part of a professional household team and independently
  • Experienced with newborn, toddler, and elementary aged children 
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment and ownership of their role
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Family assistant experience preferred
  • Possess an ability to think on your feet, problem solve and ask questions
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism
  • Glowing references!
